>>Download the WSB-NLU information booklet<< Ranked at the top of Polish private higher education institutions, WSB-NLU is the leading Business, Management, Computer Science and Political Science learning centre with far-reaching development plans.
From modest beginnings in 1991 when the first 64 students began their courses, through the first graduation ceremony in 1994, to the current intake of over 1000 new students (and an overall number of 4000), the school has maintained an aggressive expansion and development policy. Partnered with National-Louis University (Chicago, Illinois) WSB-NLU is continually seeking to expand its offer of internationally recognised courses to Polish and international students. A 1995 MBA programme partnership with Maastricht School of Management (Holland) was followed by the initiation in 1999 of an MBA in Financial Management run co-jointly the with University of Hull (UK) and in 2000 the introduction of 3 NLU programmes (2 undergraduate and 1 MBA). In 2004 WSB-NLU will begin offering a Computer Science programme from its second Chicago partner, DePaul University. At this point in time, WSB-NLU has two primary partners: National-Louis University, Chicago, Illinois and DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois, USA. In 1997, Wprost (a leading Polish magazine) included WSB-NLU into its listing of Polish higher-education institutions that have achieved international standards of teaching. In November 1999, Rector Pawlowski received the prestigious “Pro Publico Bono” Best Public Initiative Award from the Polish Prime Minister. The school’s development process culminated in 2000 with WSB-NLU taking first place in Wprost’s prestigious ranking of private Business and Management schools. The 2001 and 2002 competitions also saw the introduction of the Golden Index Award (for recognition of academic activity), which were awarded to WSB-NLU. Course delivery is centred on highly qualified professionals who are authorities in their respective fields. Visiting lecturers come from all over the world—during the late 1990’s over 60 lecturers from the USA and Western Europe taught on full-time business courses. WSB-NLU students have also benefited from lectures offered by a selection of senior company CEO’s and CFO’s with extensive international business and management experience. Numerous authorities from the world of politics (including past and present Prime Ministers and Ministers) and media also participate in the teaching process.
WSB-NLU is dedicated to offering its students the highest standard of learning and over the last decade the school had invested heavily in developing its own infrastructure. A high-tech videoconferencing centre where students can participate in lectures and seminars given by lecturers in the USA, backs a selection of high quality lecture theatres and classrooms. Nearly 50 smaller classrooms and language labs create a meeting-like atmosphere and allow for a deeper, yet also more creative, study environment where the student-teacher interaction is able to reach new levels. The computer network is based on an ultra-powerful Gigabit/second backbone, which assures the efficient handling of even the most demanding scenarios, be that: multiple simultaneous intranet solutions, teleconferencing or even e-business projects created by students and staff. Computer rooms are located in various buildings and thanks to direct backing from major computer companies (sponsorship agreements) all 600 computers are on par with world standards. For anyone in need of immediate computer access there is a selection of terminals placed at strategic locations throughout the school buildings.
Recognising the worldwide trend towards digitisation of scientific and educational data, WSB-NLU’s library holds nearly 2500 CD-ROMs that contain the digital equivalent of 100 000 conventional volumes. 51 000 conventional books are backed by 30 online databases and unlimited access to the ProQuest online information service that offers full articles from hundreds of journals and periodicals (both current and past editions). The PROLIB integrated management system assures quick and effective operations, while the OPAC module optimises user-specific functions like searches, book loans and account information. With the majority of WSB-NLU students coming from across Poland and beyond, the school invested heavily in providing the very best in accommodation, dining and sports facilities. Five recently completed dormitories offer accommodation for over 600 students, with laundry, in-room telephone, internet and satellite TV services, all a short walking distance from the school. Located on school grounds, a canteen with 150 places, two bars, two café’s and a selection of dispensers assure that both students and staff have access to an extensive selection of snacks, hot/cold food and drinks.
In line with WSB-NLU’s compulsory sport’s programme, the school owns a multi-purpose sports field (for soccer, volleyball, basketball, etc), two open and two enclosed tennis courts. A superbly equipped fitness club (gym and training hall) and solarium are available throughout the year. For a wider selection of facilities, WSB-NLU cooperates with the local Sports Association, so that sports like martial arts, indoor swimming, hiking and wall climbing can be offered to the students in local facilities. Because of the city’s geographical position (south of Poland) the students have an opportunity to enjoy a wide selection of winter sports and tourist activities. >>Download the WSB-NLU information booklet<<
